    Fruit obovoid, ellipsoid or ovoid, 2–4.4 cm. long, 1.4–3 cm. diameter, shortly apiculate, sitting in an enlarged calycine cupule 1.7–2 cm. long, 2.5 cm. wide; putamen subquadrate, grooved, with 1–2 locules developed; seeds 1–2.

    Leaf-blades rounded-obovate, ovate-elliptic to almost round, (3.5–)9–15(–33) cm. long, (2–)6–11.5(–26) cm. wide, ± rounded to acuminate at the apex, rounded to cordate at the base, entire or crenulate, scabrid or glabrous above, tomentose-pilose or softly velvety pubescent beneath or hairy only on the venation which is raised and reticulate beneath; petiole 2.5–7.5(–16) cm. long, ferruginous-pilose, leaving marked scars after leaf-fall.

    Male: calyx tubular-campanulate, 0.8–1.2 cm. long, 3–4-toothed or ± 2-lipped, fulvous-tomentose, ± ribbed; corolla white, yellow or greenish yellow, or cream; tube cylindric-campanulate, 0.7–1.2 cm. long; limb 1.2–1.5 cm. wide, the lobes 5–7, oblong, elliptic or narrowly ovate, 4.5–7 mm. long, 1.8–2.5 mm. wide; stamens 5–7, exserted, with filaments 5–9 mm. long; rudimentary ovary subglobose, 0.5–0.9 mm. diameter, with an apical tuft of hairs.

    Female: calyx more tubular, 6–10 mm. long, 3–4-lobed; corolla-tube 5–10(–12) mm. long; limb with lobes similar to ♂ but elliptic-oblong to ovate, 4.5–6.5 mm. long, 2.5–4 mm. wide; stamens 5A2—7, scarcely exserted, the pilose filaments 2.5–3.5 mm. long, sterile; ovary ovoid, 3.5 mm. long, 2 mm. diameter, glabrous; style 5 mm. long with 2 branches 3 mm. long, each with stigmatic branches linear, flattened 4–6 mm. long, fimbriate, exserted.

    Shrub to tall tree, 4–32 m. tall, with spreading crown and thick ± short rarely straight bole, 9–12 m. long, bearing short blunt buttresses; bark pale brown, greenish grey or grey-brown, rough and fibrous, flaking in oblong pieces; slash pale yellow turning blackish orange or pale creamy brown, fibrous and layered, turning rapidly through greenish to dark brown; young shoots ferruginous-pubescent.
