General Information

Cleome viscosa L., Sp. Pl. 672. 1753; C. icosandra L.; Polanisia viscosa (L.) DC.; P. icosandra (L.) Wight & Arn.

Anuales erectas, ramificadas o no ramificadas, (0.1–) 0.3–1 (–1.6) m de alto, más o menos hirsuto-glandulares en todas partes, inermes. Hojas 3–5-folioladas, folíolos ovados a oblanceolado-elípticos, (0.6–) 2–6 cm de largo y 5–30 mm de ancho, agudos a redondeados, margen ciliado-glandular; pecíolos 1–6 cm de largo. Racimos poco definidos o flores solitarias en las axilas de las hojas superiores 3-folioladas, pedicelos 8–20 mm de largo; sépalos 5–10 mm de largo; pétalos 7–14 mm de largo, dispuestos después de la antesis en un semicírculo adaxial, amarillo brillantes, a veces con base morada; estambres 14–25, los filamentos 5–8 mm de largo, dimorfos, los 4–10 adaxiales más cortos y con una apófisis debajo de las anteras. Frutos linear-cilíndricos, 3–10 cm de largo y 2–4 mm de ancho, pubescente-glandulares, las 2 valvas persistentes dehiscentes en parte desde el ápice, tiesos, ascendentes o erectos, ginóforo ausente, pedicelos 6–30 mm; semillas numerosas, 1.3–1.8 mm de diámetro, transversalmente acostilladas, café obscuras.

Maleza muy común, zona pacífica; 0–400 m; fl y fr durante todo el año; Araquistain 75, Guzmán 157; maleza nativa de los trópicos del Viejo Mundo y actualmente pantropical.
