Flowers 1–9 or rarely numerous, with the inflorescences forming dense clusters 3 cm. wide; primary peduncles usually hooked, pubescent or glabrous; secondary peduncles very short; pedicels 1–5 mm. long, adpressed pubescent; bracts persistent.
Leaf-blades elliptic, oblong to ovate or rarely elliptic-lanceolate, 2–16.3 cm. long, 1–6.7 cm. wide, rounded, obtuse or shortly acuminate at the apex, rounded to cuneate at the base, ± coriaceous, shining and glabrous above, sparsely pubescent beneath or at least with some hairs on the midrib, mostly prominently reticulate on both surfaces; petioles 2–7 mm. long, pubescent.
Liane, shrub or small tree l.5–6(–12) m. long or tall; young branchlets sparsely adpressed ferruginous pubescent, soon glabrous, dark blackish-purple, ridged.
Seeds chestnut, ellipsoid but sometimes plano-convex, 0.8–1.4 cm. long, 5–7 mm. wide, 5–6 mm. thick, shining.

Stamens c. 1 mm. long, cuneiform; connective-prolongation capitate, truncate.
Seeds c. 0.8–1.4 cm. long, plano-convex.
